What is Yoga?
The definition of yoga continues to be a subject of extensive academic and philosophical study. Yoga is an ancient practiced developed in India over 5,000 years ago as a comprehensive system for well being on all levels: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.
Today, many millions of people use various aspects of Yoga to help raise their quality of life in such diverse areas as fitness, stress relief, wellness, vitality, mental clarity, healing, peace of mind and spiritual growth.
What Style of yoga do you teach?
Grow A Lotus offers alignment based, heart-centred Hatha yoga. Hatha Yoga is system of all yoga postures and breathing techniques, An alignment based, heart-centered Hatha yoga class includes a mindful connection to yoga philosophy while providing focused attention to precision bodily placement, often with longer holds of asanas. Occasionally props are used to help you attain the desired alignment.
I’m new, what it is the best class to attend?
Beginners are encouraged to attend 6 week beginner yoga series, or the weekly Neighbour Yoga classes.
What is Neighbour Yoga?
Neighbour yoga is not exclusive to neighbours. The classes are designed to welcome beginners to practice yoga in a friendly, casual environment with a focus on the foundations of the poses.
What is the difference between the class levels?
The classes are taught with sequential sequencing, and as a result, the levels increase based on the depth of the challenge. Lower level classes focus on foundational poses while higher level classes include more challenging poses, longer holds, and further integration of actions in a pose.
